What happened
Two powerful earthquakes, magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, struck northern Venezuela just 39 seconds apart, the strongest to hit the country in over a century. Buildings collapsed across Caracas and the coastal state of La Guaira, now declared a disaster zone. Thousands of lives were lost, and tens of thousands of people were left without homes.
The emergency did not end when the shaking stopped. Families remain displaced today, and the work of recovery, from rebuilding homes to restoring routines and a sense of safety, is only beginning.
Our response
Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care USA is on the ground across Greater Caracas, delivering fully funded relief and recovery support to up to 30,000 people across 6,000 families at four relief sites.
The response cares for the whole person: 1,000 family tents that protect each family’s privacy and safety, food kits delivered every 48 hours, hygiene and infant supplies, blankets, and prescription medicines, all purchased locally in Caracas. Alongside every delivery, trained volunteers offer emotional support for adults and dedicated safe spaces where children can simply be children while their families rebuild.
Built for accountability
Every family is registered at intake, every person receives a color-coded ID wristband, and supplies are released only to each family’s verified head of household. In the chaos after a disaster, children are at their most vulnerable; this system is built to keep every child registered, tracked, and protected.
Your gift matters
